dkelvin As a very long time Bolan fan I'd never imagined hearing so wonderful covers of his songs. Matthew Joseph Hugues makes them his owns but meanwhile paradoxically respects Bolan's interpretation. It's a kind of miracle. Often he improves them and shows their true quality once the heavy arrangements are eliminated (eg. All Alone). A must have for every Bolan addict. Favorite track: All Alone.

I saw this mirror I looked through it Reflections looked most bent and old I can't do much hating hatred Seeing things deformed And almost cold Crying sadly, shielding gladly my eyes From the ugly side Of fat men seeing almost Thin men peeping, steeping, falling Dizzy from their weirdest high The man of magic Thinking of evil He was bringing sunless children Seeing all the bad Cos beauty was too ugly And faceless people wondered At the beautiful forms they had Now the mirror's broken I'm smiling, seeing good things Yet, despite foot splinters swirl in the air Forever causing beauty To become a nighttime weird thing Blackening the fairest maiden's hair I saw this mirror I looked through it Reflections looked most bent and old I can't do much hating hatred Seeing things deformed and almost cold

Stacey Grove he's a roaming prophet of mine Hat full of wine Stacey Grove he's a roving catcher of skies Forecaster of eyes, so no lies He's a nice cat Oh, he's a nice cat Dungaree dome is decked like a pagan temple to Zeus He drinks acorn juice Roasting his feet by the furnace of peat He roars at the boars who massively sleep at his feet He's a nice cat Oh, he's a nice cat Antelope head his beard skylark red Is tucked 'neath the good of his summer sun hood And now that the gate of his evening is late He sits on a log picking ticks off the back of his dog Oh he's a nice cat

Beauty things sing to me As a chorus As a flock the wild seas Sway before us Hail as a hand is my mail The thrush is my love And the whale is a snail Sailors dance in a trance On the ocean Fairy lights in her eyes Tame the water With the morn we mount and ride Pilgrims of summer The swift is our guide Dazzle dawn man Mouthed with a smile Caution cloud lord Stay for a while You make us smile. It's not hard to believe it...

All Alone 02:43
All alone I sit at home With my chrome guitar Even Michael Mouse He has a house with someone there You handsome bitch, you movie twitch And serenade the dudes that move and Smile so vile and masquerade, the masquerade An adjacent kid with a Jamaican lid And switch-blade knife, steals the Truth from your golden tooth then Turns you in So you hold hands tight on a marble night And you maybe dismissed, but know that Zeus is never loose with his Grecian kiss His Grecian kiss Fiery skies in children eyes Fade into youth bleeding blood and tears On all the ears, that heard your gold So you walk the dog and you stroll the frog On a dome sky earth, and lie too hard Is an English bard, you better hide your tracks Better watch your mind All alone I sit at home With my chrome guitar Even Michael Mouse He has a house with someone there You hold hands tight on a marble night And you maybe dismissed, but know that Zeus is never loose with his Grecian kiss With his Grecian kiss, yeah

I've changed many faces I've acted many scenes Been the delicate-self hoodlum Of several babies' dreams As I step up to your doorway Listen hard to the sound I'm the Purple Prince Of Pleasure Where there's leisure unbound I stole the golden crown And made everyone believe Everything that could have been Was never meant to be As I fly out on the airwave Listen hard to the sound I'm the Purple Prince Of Pleasure Where there's leisure unbound Ooh do it babe! They got everyone to buy into A lie he half believed To divide and control A world that never had to be TURN OFF YOUR TELEVISION Listen hard to the sound Of the Purple Prince Of Pleasure Where there's leisure unbound Ooh Na na na Woo!

about

Youth seer, lend me your ear...

After last month's release of the Angel Headed Hipster album, the all-star tribute to the music of Marc Bolan, I received more requests than usual to make my own album of Marc's songs. I enjoy the AHH project, as the artists involved really tailored Marc's songs to suit their own styles. It got me thinking about how I might inject my style and personality into Marc's songs, rather than playing it safe with faithful recreations. I wish it wouldn't have taken me so long to figure out how to do it like this.

For me, Marc Bolan is the most musically, sexually, and politically ambiguous icon; the T.REXTASY a trojan horse into societal acceptance for all of the world's beautiful outcasts. We could always use a little more of that spirit, and that LEADERSHIP, especially here in America, right now. It's the reason I keep coming back to him. He left unfinished business here.

As usual, this is all self-produced in my living room. There are 3 bonus tracks when you download the album (it's free / name your price!) Check out my other music on here as well as with my band Atari Ferrari. We independent artists need all the help we can get. (It's a long way to the top if you want to rock & roll!)

Keep a little Marc in your heart. x
